FAQ - is Nutritional Medicine right for you?

  • Whether you are a busy mom or you travel for work or you have a history of an eating disorder, you still need to eat! We work hard to make sure your plan is as strict or as flexible as you need it to be. By meeting you where you are at, we will always find ways to improve your health through nutrition without it feeling overwhelming or unsustainable.

  • Your family is part of those lifestyle considerations that go into every treatment plan. We don't want you making multiple dinners every night either! But we also know that a chicken nugget and freezer fries diet isn’t good for anyone, so while we may challenge you to make changes for the whole family, we will be right there with you along the way.

  • YES! This is a great reason to work with a dietitian. You may have a healthy diet, but is it the right diet for you? Inability to lose weight suggests that it is not.

  • Definitely. We can help you gain muscle without too much fat gain and in a sustainable way.

  • The most common feedback after starting with our registered dietitian is that digestion is much improved and energy is better, even if those weren’t primary goals!

  • Slow metabolism is a complex issue. We will do a careful investigation of all possible contributing factors to determine the best way to increase your metabolism. Some possibilities include: hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, nutritional deficiencies, microbiome imbalances, stress, chronic under eating, food sensitivities and leaky gut, and metabolic blocks.

  • Prevention is at the heart of what we do here at Ideal Human. It is much easier to prevent a disease than to treat and reverse it. Nutritional Medicine is the perfect way to decrease your risk for chronic disease because poor diet is at the heart of most chronic diseases. The right diet can decrease inflammation, normalize cholesterol, strengthen your microbiome, and improve your mental health. That’s certainly more powerful than any drug!
